About PNA Kids!
PNA Kids! provides high quality enrichment programming and is dedicated to nurturing the social, emotional and educational growth and development of preschool and school-age children in a caring and self-esteem building environment. PNA Kids! focuses on a dynamic curriculum that fosters creativity, instills a love for learning, builds social skills, and raises awareness of the community. Operating at two locations, Whittier Elementary and the Phinney Neighborhood Center, PNA Kids! serves 250-300 families annually. Twenty teachers and support staff maintain PNA Kids! which includes Whittier Kids!, a NAEYC accredited half and full day preschool, and two before-and-after school care programs serving children in grades K-5, Whittier Kids! (WK!) and Phinney Ridge Kids! (PRK!).
Position Overview
The Preschool Program Supervisor is responsible for the general supervision and management of the children, staff and the program at the PNA’s Whittier Kids! (WK!) Preschool Program. Areas of responsibility include:
Program Management: Manage program according to best practices established by NAEYC and DEL. Ensure that curriculum is developed and delivered in a culturally competent and intentional manner. Creating and sustaining a developmentally appropriate classroom environment for early learners.
Managing Staff: Hire, orient and provide supervision for WK! teachers, aides and volunteers; foster and maintain cooperative relationships with all other staff members; oversight of and commitment to continued professional development; facilitate weekly staff meetings.
Community Relations: Interact positively and constructively with families; build strong community bonds through cooperation and collaboration with other PNA programs and community organizations.
Administrative Responsibilities: Overseeing the overall quality of the program; coordinate with other PNA programs and community organizations as needed with regard to the use of space; Assist PNA Kids! Director in short and long range planning; responsible for developing and monitoring the annual budget; ensure that the program meets or surpasses facility licensing standards.
The Program Supervisor reports to the PNA Child Care Director.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The PNA is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic Program Supervisor whose experience and philosophy closely aligns with an emphasis on individualized, play based, inclusive programming and practices.
This individual we are seeking has the planning, coordination and supervisory skills to implement a high quality, developmentally appropriate, anti-bias program and to manage the program budget in a responsible manner.
This individual we are seeking is skilled in balancing the needs of children, parents and staff, and supervising teachers while supporting individual strengths and allowing a degree of autonomy in the classroom.
Minimum Qualifications
•BA or MA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field OR a minimum of 45 credits is required in one of these subject areas is required.
•Experience leading a NAEYC accredited center and strong knowledge of NAEYC Standards
•Preferred candidates will have experience utilizing the Creative Curriculum
•Two or more years of direct experience working with children ages 2 through 5 required and experience working with children with special needs preferred.
•At least two years supervisory experience with increasing levels of responsibility in a school age group setting.
•Knowledge of and commitment to cultural relevancy and anti-bias practices.
•Ability to lead, inspire and motivate staff.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Experience developing and managing budgets preferred.
•Knowledge of the Department of Early Learning (DEL) licensing regulations preferred.
•Experience working with programs in shared spaces preferred.
Salary Range
$37,000 - $39,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits include health care and paid time off. This is a full time, salaried, exempt position; some evenings required. The PNA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
