full time HS/ECEAP Coordinator Assistnat, Child Development

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Child Development Coordinator, support and train Head Start/ECEAP educational staff in planning and implementing all aspects of Head Start and ECEAP child development services. This position supports the comprehensive system that involves families in developing individual child learning plans, curriculum planning, on-going observation and assessment of children’s learning, recording children’s outcomes and related training and technical assistance.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Support educational programs by providing role modeling, guidance and training to Head Start teachers, substitute teachers and volunteers to promote developmentally appropriate practices and assure an optimum learning environment for young children.
2. Work in partnership with teachers and direct service teams in planning and individualizing for children including children with special needs.
3. Ensure program Performance Standards and developmentally appropriate practices, program goals and program priorities are met.
4. Provide support, technical assistance and training to staff on individualizing developmentally appropriate curriculum, positive child guidance practices, developing children’s individual learning goals, documenting and recording children’s learning and measuring child outcomes.
5. Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, families, volunteers and school district staff.
6. Maintain an organized system of providing educational assistance to multiple sites and staff that includes constant and regular communication.
7. Train and support educational staff, substitute teachers and volunteers.
8. Provide opportunities for staff to promote connections between school and home.
9. Provide direct educational services where need is indicated.
10. Attend all required trainings.
11. Maintain an organized system of providing educational assistance to various sites and staff.
12. Provide trainings and follow-ups, which include literacy training's to groups and individuals.
13. Implement adult learning principles into all aspects of work.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
1. Current CDA and evidence of working on Associate's Degree with emphasis in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) to be completed within three years -- OR –
2. Associates Degree with emphasis in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) and a minimum of two years experience working in a pre-school or kindergarten -- OR –
3. Bachelors Degree in Early Child Education or Child Development or related field and a minimum of one year experience working with pre-school or kindergarten
4. Experience working with low-income families, diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
5. Experience working with children with disabilities and behavior challenges is preferred.
6. Prior Head Start/ECEAP experience or former Head Start/ECEAP parent preferred.
7. Adult education experience preferred.
8. Experience implementing on-going assessment system of child learning for 3 – 5 preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:
1. Positive human relations and interpersonal skills.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Basic knowledge of computer use.
5. Ability to maintain program confidentiality policies.
6. Ability to work occasional evenings.
3. Ability to travel; reliable transportation.
4. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following conditions:
