Title: Development Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Compensation: $54,000 to $60,000, DOE + benefits

The Position: The Development Director is responsible for developing and executing a diversified fundraising plan that fulfills the Foundation’s short- and long-term organizational goals. This position provides leadership in fundraising activities, particularly event planning, annual fund management, grant-seeking, and donor stewardship. The Development Director works closely with the Finance and Program Departments, board of directors, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
• Create and implement a comprehensive strategic fundraising program focused on annual giving, major and planned giving, corporate and foundation support, and events) in order to secure sustainable financial support.
• Provide training and assist in recruiting board members and volunteers.
• Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts and sponsorships from individuals, corporations, and foundations in partnership with Executive Director.
• Responsible for managing a significant portfolio of primary prospects, which could lead to major donor funding commitments.
• Oversee major gifts strategies for one- to three-year horizons.
• Collaborate with colleagues to effectively market programs and services to key stakeholders via traditional and digital media formats.
• Create and manage an annual Development Work Plan in accordance with Foundation’s financial goals to facilitate maintenance and growth.
• Monitor effectiveness and analyze results of all fundraising strategies and programs, working closely with the Executive Director to re-direct fundraising efforts as required to achieve overall goals.
• Manage department budget.
• Provide staff support for the Development Committee.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred.
• Five plus years of successful experience in major and planned gift and event sponsorship fundraising.
• Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to build successful relationships between prospect/donor and the Foundation.
• Exceptional skill communicating in writing, over the telephone, and in-person.
• Strong interpersonal skills, poised, professional, mature manner.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, exercise good judgment and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-pasted environment.
• Team player who is comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Values-driven professional with a desire to make a difference in the community.
• Familiarity with relational databases (such as Raiser’s Edge).
• An ability to learn, adapt, and be innovative as new opportunities and challenges arise.
• Integrity, creativity, positive attitude, perseverance and attention to detail.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
