full time EARLY LEARNING ASSOCIATE

at Children's Alliance in Seattle

The Early Learning Associate position supports the Children’s Alliance’s Early Learning Policy Coordinator (ELPC), Early Learning Advocacy Coordinator (ELAC) and policy staff in developing and implementing advocacy strategies. The position combines public policy analysis, research, and advocacy with administrative support needed to advance policies and investments for early learning in Washington. This full-time position is based in the Seattle office. Ability to travel and work a
flexible schedule is required. Health, dental, and retirement benefits included.

This position reports to the Children’s Alliance’s Early Learning Policy Coordinator and is a member of the organization’s policy staff. Salary $40,000/yr. People of color and women are encouraged to apply.

Major Responsibilities:
Early Learning Coalitions and Partnerships
• Assist the Early Learning Policy Coordinator (ELPC) with implementing the activities and strategies of the Early Learning Action
Alliance, the multi-sector, statewide coalition of early learning advocates convened by the Children’s Alliance.
• Maintain effective partnerships with public and private sector partners.
• Assist in outreach efforts for the Early Learning Action Alliance.
• Assist in coordinating community-based early learning efforts around the state.

Early Learning Campaign
• Work with the ELPC and Communications Team to develop and implement communications and mobilization strategies.
• Help prepare electronic communications to Children’s Alliance early learning policy subscribers, reporting policy developments
and action opportunities.

Early Learning Policy
• Conduct research on various proven and promising policies to develop and improve early learning systems, particularly in
communities of color and low-income communities.
• Help generate reports and recommendations for Children’s Alliance early learning policy positions.
Fund development and grants management
• Assist staff in pursuing opportunities to expand Children's Alliance’s early learning policy work and assist with Children’s
Alliance resource development efforts
• Assist in development of reports to funders
Miscellaneous activities
• Participate in organizational activities, such as staff workgroups, membership meetings, fund development, trainings, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Experience in public policy advocacy
• Experience in early learning policy or a closely related policy area
• Commitment to diversity and equitable outcomes for low income children and children of color.
• Experience staffing coalitions and workgroups
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Excellent relationship skills and teamwork
• Strategic communications experience
