The Educare Early Learning Center will open its doors in February, 2010, in the new Greenbridge development in White Center, just south of Seattle. Educare is a national collaboration of state‐of‐the‐art programs serving at‐risk families with young children from birth to five years. There are 10 Educare Centers nation‐wide, each based on public/private partnerships that include Head Start, school districts, and philanthropists.

Educare centers provide full‐day full‐year child development and family support services aimed at preparing children for kindergarten and life. The Educare Center will provide early caregivers and parents from the surrounding community and region with hands‐on professional development to improve early learning for all children, and will provide a platform for demonstrating the outcomes that can be achieved by high quality comprehensive services. Educare is part of The White Center Early Learning Initiative (WCELI), designed to maximize school readiness for every young child in White Center through parent‐driven culturally appropriate services.

WCELI is working to accomplish this ambitious goal by building a system of integrated child development and parent support for children, their families and their community. Educare and WCELI are supported by public funding and private philanthropy, including Thrive by Five Washington and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
